** U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday announced a 25% tariff on heavy-duty trucks, set to take effect next week

** PCAR manufactures most of its trucks for the U.S. market domestically, giving it a competitive edge under the new tariff regime

** Trump said the tariff aims to protect U.S. manufacturers from unfair foreign competition, highlighting potential gains for companies such as PACCAR's Peterbilt and Kenworth brands, and Daimler Truck's Freightliner.
