** Shares of Paterson Resources Ltd  PSL.AX  rise as much as
3.5% to A$0.03, their highest since Jan. 20
    ** Stock posts its biggest intraday pct gain since Jan. 20
    ** Gold miner says received firm commitments to raise
approximately A$2 mln ($1.41 mln), before costs, via placement
of up to 71.4 mln shares 
    ** The issue price of A$0.28 represents a discount of 3.5%
to co's last closing of A$0.29 on Jan. 24
    ** More than 717,223 shares change hands, around three times
the 30-day average volume 
    ** Stock up 3.6% this year, as of last close
($1 = 1.4207 Australian dollars)
