UPDATE 1-PNC names Alexander Overstrom as CFO, succeeding Robert Reilly Adds analysts comments in bullet 2 and 3, rewrites throughout
Nov 5 (Reuters) - PNC Financial PNC.N named Alexander Overstrom as its next chief financial officer on Thursday; effective March 1, 2027, he will succeed Robert Reilly, who will become executive vice chairman.
PNC said it will name a permanent successor to Overstrom, currently head of its retail banking business, in the near future
Here are more details:
Overstrom joined PNC in 2014 from Goldman Sachs, where he spent eight years in firmwide strategy and investment banking, and has held other roles including head of PNC Merchant Services and chief operating officer of Corporate and Institutional Banking and Asset Management
"We view the planned transition favorably, with Overstrom bringing extensive knowledge of PNC's operations and strategy," said Raymond James analyst Michael Rose
"While we had not expected this announcement, the transition seems logical to us," said TD Cowen analysts, adding that Reilly would continue to hold an influential position at the company afterward
Reilly, who has served as CFO since 2013, will advise Chairman and CEO William Demchak on strategic initiatives, operating priorities and stakeholder engagement
He joined PNC in 1987 and previously led its Asset Management Group
During his tenure as CFO, the bank completed the acquisitions of BBVA USA in 2021 and FirstBank in January 2026
