Further statement re merger investigation
 
The Board welcomes today's announcement by the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport that the merger investigation, including the public interest considerations relating to the Company's acquisition of certain of Northern & Shell's UK publishing assets (the "Acquisition") does not require further investigation by the CMA.
This completes the regulatory review process in the UK in relation to the Acquisition.
Simon Fox commented: "We welcome today's decision by the Secretary of State. Today we are two successful separate news organisations, but together we will be stronger and better able to compete and adapt to the challenging conditions in which we operate."
