** Shares of Rimfire Pacific Mining  RIM.AX  rise as much as
17.9% to A$0.033, set for best day since April 30, if gains hold
    
    ** Critical minerals explorer says thick zones of strong
scandium anomalism defined from Murga Scandium Prospect, located
on co's Fifield Project in Australia
    ** Scandium is mainly used for research purposes and
construction of fighter planes, high-end bicycle frames, among
others
    ** Stock hits highest level since April 26
    ** About 5.5 mln shares change hands, compared with the
30-day average volume of 2.4 mln      
    ** RIM up 40% YTD, as of last close
