Rio Tinto share repurchase programme

Asannounced on 12 February 2015, Rio Tinto is conducting a US$2 billion share buy-back programme, of which c$1.575 billion is expected to be completed through the on-market purchase of Rio Tinto plc shares.
The overall programme is expected to be fully executed by 31 December 2015.
Any Rio Tinto plc shares that Rio Tinto buys back between 22 April 2015 and 30 June 2015 inclusive will be handled by an independent third party. This party will make its trading decisions in relation to Rio Tinto's securities independently of, and uninfluenced by, Rio Tinto. Any shares so purchased will be cancelled. This buy-back programme may be suspended at any time.
Any purchases of shares will be effected within certain pre-set parameters, and in accordance with both Rio Tinto's general authority to repurchase shares given in general meeting and Chapter 12 of the UK Listing Authority's Listing Rules which requires that the maximum price paid be limited to be no more than 5 per cent above the average market value for the shares as derived from the London Stock Exchange Daily Official List for the five business days immediately prior to such purchase.
Rio Tinto confirms that it currently has no unpublished price sensitive information.
