Rio Tinto share repurchase programme

As announced on 12 February 2015, Rio Tinto is currently conducting a US$2 billion share buy-back programme.
Any Rio Tinto plc shares that Rio Tinto buys back between 10 August 2015 and 25 September 2015 inclusive will be handled by an independent third party. This party will make its trading decisions in relation to Rio Tinto's securities independently of, and uninfluenced by, Rio Tinto. Any shares so purchased will be cancelled. 
Any purchases of shares will be effected within certain pre-set parameters, and in accordance with both Rio Tinto's general authority to repurchase shares on-market given at its annual general meetings and Chapter 12 of the UK Listing Authority's Listing Rules, which requires that the maximum price paid be limited to no more than 5 per cent above the average market value for the shares as derived from the London Stock Exchange Daily Official List for the five business days immediately prior to such purchase.
The buy-back programme as handled by the independent third party may be suspended by Rio Tinto at any time, other than during a prohibited period.
Rio Tinto confirms that it currently has no unpublished price sensitive information.
