SEOUL/SINGAPORE, Feb 27 (Reuters) - South Korean refiner
S-Oil Corp 010950.KS plans to restart its No. 3 crude
distillation unit (CDU) on Tuesday after the unit was shut down
last week when a fire broke out, three trade sources said.
The fire at the 250,000-barrel per day (bpd) CDU at the No.2
complex in Onsan was extinguished on Friday afternoon and there
were no casualties, one of the sources said.
The shutdown affected operations at its 73,000-bpd residue
fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC), which had reduced runs by up to
20%, two of the sources said.
The company is still loading 10-ppm gasoil cargoes for spot
sales, the sources said, although it has cancelled a tender to
sell one light cycle oil cargo loading next month.
S-Oil declined to comment on the matter.
The fire had no impact on the fuel oil market, with the
refiner still offering one March-loading cargo for slurry in a
tender that closes on Wednesday. The refiner typically offers
one slurry cargo a month via tenders.
