** Australian mining sub-index .AXMM rises as much as 2% to all-time high

** Chinese iron ore futures DCIOcv1 on Dalian Commodity Exchange up 0.6%

** BHP Group BHP.AX, Rio Tinto RIO.AX gain as much as 2.7% and 1.6%, respectively

** Sandfire Resources SFR.AX, ASX-listed Capstone Copper CSC.AX add 5.1% and 7.1%, respectively, after copper prices hit 16-month peak overnight MET/L

** Lynas Rare Earths LYC.AX advances 5.9% to more than 14-year high after signing deal to supply rare earth permanent magnets to U.S. defence, commercial sectors

** AXMM set for sixth straight session of gains

** Sub-index gains more than 27% YTD, outshining benchmark index's .AXJO 9.8% climb
