Australian miners rise on higher copper prices

** Shares of Australian miners gain as much as 1.7%, hitting their highest level since July 25

** Sub-index tracks copper prices, which rise as a softer U.S. dollar and hopes of better demand from top buyer China buoy sentiment MET/L

** Copper miner Sandfire Resources SFR.AX rises nearly 2% while mining giant BHP Group BHP.AX gains as much as 1.3%

** AXMM up nearly 4% for the week

** Stock up 9.2% this year, including the day's move
