May 14 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is
seen opening higher on Tuesday, with futures FFIc1 up 0.01%.
* ANGLO AMERICAN: Anglo American AAL.L laid out a strategy
update that includes exploring options for its steelmaking coal,
nickel and platinum businesses, in an effort to fend off a
takeover bid from the world's largest miner BHP Group BHP.AX .
* VODAFONE: Vodafone VOD.L met market forecasts by
reporting a 2.2% increase in organic earnings for the year to
end-March after excluding the Spanish and Italian operations
that it has agreed to sell.
* GREGGS: Baker and fast food retailer Greggs GRG.L said
its expectations for the full year were unchanged as it reported
underlying sales growth of 7.4% for the first 19 weeks of 2024.
* MARSTON'S: Pub operator Marston's MARS.L posted a
smaller first-half loss from a year-ago period and forecasts an
encouraging second half.
* CURRYS: Electricals retailer Currys CURY.L raised its
annual profit forecast by around 10%.
* VIRGIN MONEY: British bank Virgin Money UK VMUK.L
said expects costs to increase in the second-half of the year
due to inflation and higher investments, adding that its
profitability would also be hurt by growing competition and
lower interest rates.
* PAY: British
wages excluding bonuses
- in the sights of the Bank of England as it considers when
to cut interest rates - grew by a stronger-than-expected 6.0% in
the first three months of 2024 compared with the same period a
year earlier, data showed.
* ANGLO AMERICAN: BHP Group BHP.AX is likely to sweeten
its $43 billion takeover offer for Anglo American for a second
time and possibly add cash, investors in both companies said,
after the London-headquartered target rejected a higher bid.
