    POLITICS
    Italy is preparing a new package of measures to help
businesses and families cope with costly energy bills, which be
unveiled as early as this week, government sources said.    
    
    ECONOMY
    Italian companies are looking at the health of the banks
they rely on in the wake of the current financial turmoil and
turning more conservative over how they invest their cash, the
head of the country's Association of Corporate Treasurers (AITI)
said on Monday.

 UNPI.MI , as well as leading lenders Intesa Sanpaolo  ISP.MI ,

to zero exposure to Credit Suisse's hybrid bonds which are being
written off under the rescue deal, sources close to the matter
