The benchmark S&P 500 and the Nasdaq were flat on Tuesday as a mixed bag of
earnings from industry bellwethers threatened to douse a recent rally, while the
Dow treaded water on the back of losses in 3M.  .N

37,932.11. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.05% at 4,853.04 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.08% at 15,372.024.
