Brazil's Raizen chairman Ometto says IG4 proposal a 'market rumor'
Brazil's Raizen chairman Ometto says IG4 proposal a 'market rumor' RIO DE JANEIRO, June 22 (Reuters) - Rubens Ometto, the chairman of Brazilian sugar and ethanol producer Raizen RAIZ4.SA, said on Monday that a reported interest by private equity firm IG4 in the company is being treated as a "market rumor."
"People in the financial market are very creative, but there is nothing along those lines," Ometto told Reuters after an event at the headquarters of Brazilian state-run development bank BNDES in Rio de Janeiro.
Last week, Reuters reported, citing sources, that independent investment bank Moelis & Company and financial consultancy firm Journey Capital, advisers to creditors of Raizen, received non-binding offers from IG4 to acquire credits and control of the firm.
