** St Barbara SBM.AX soars as much as 4.8% to A$0.493, its highest level since late October 2024

** Shares set to gain more than 20% this week, which would be its most weekly gain since early August

** The gold miner on Tuesday said its talks with Papua New Guinea government officials to resolve tax issues were progressing

** Said, mining lease extension can move forward on resolving tax issue

** YTD, shares up 116.7%
