India's MMTC, STC drop over reports of shutdown

** Shares of state-run trading company MMTC Ltd  MMTC.NS 
slump as much as 16.57% to 20.65 rupees
    ** State Trading Corp of India (STC)  STCI.NS  slides up to
18.31% to 109.50 rupees
    ** The govt plans to shut down MMTC and STC, according to a
newspaper report 
    ** MMTC stock sees worst session since Nov 2016
    ** About 1.8 mln MMTC shares change hands, compared with
30-day average of about 1.4 mln shares
    ** Up to last close, MMTC stock down nearly 20% this year
    ** As of last close, STC shares down 8.4% so far this year
