Adds CEO background, quote

March 3 (Reuters) - Synlait Milk SML.NZ said on Monday that it has appointed Richard Wyeth as its chief executive officer.

Acting CEO Tim Carter will retain his position until Wyeth joins the company on May 19.

Wyeth previously held CEO roles in Westland Milk Products and Miraka, which are both based in New Zealand, and also helped establish Open Country Dairy, the world's second largest exporter of whole milk powder.

Tim Carter, who was previously the head of the company's Dairyworks business, took over as Acting CEO after Grant Watson resigned in late October 2024.

Carter will return to Dairyworks to resume his role as CEO.
