France secures additional 295,000 tons of diesel a month from Gulf countries, official says PARIS, Oct 21 (Reuters) - France has secured an additional 295,000 tons of diesel from Gulf countries for both October and November, following a visit by President Emmanuel Macron to the region this week, a presidency official said.
France, Europe's second-largest diesel consumer, will get an additional 95,000 tons per month for October and November from Saudi Arabia, and 100,000 tons per month from the United Arab Emirates, the official told reporters on Tuesday.
Talks are also underway with Bahrain for a further 100,000 tons per month. The total, to be handled by TotalEnergies TTEF.PA , would amount to just over 10% of diesel consumption, the official added, with discussions continuing for the subsequent months.
