Wall Street's main indexes edged higher in the volatile first trading session of
2025 as investors pinned their hopes on a fresh political landscape and more
interest rate cuts, while Tesla slid after a dour deliveries report.  .N 
    
At 13:30 EST, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.62% at
42,286.94.The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.61% at 5,846.53, and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was down 0.71% at 19,173.25.
