Vanda Pharma shares slip as trial failure halts anxiety drug program

** Shares of Vanda Pharmaceuticals VNDA.O fall 1.7% to $4.15 premarket
** Co said late on Wednesday its experimental anxiety drug, VQW-765, failed to meet the main goal of a late-stage study
** The drug did not reduce stress levels compared to placebo during a public-speaking stress test
** Vanda puts the VQW-765 development program on hold while it reviews the full study data
** The trial miss "adds pressure to the rest of the portfolio," Oppenheimer analysts said, adding that investors may now apply a "higher bar" to other Vanda programs
** As of last close, stock down 52% YTD
