COPENHAGEN, March 23 (Reuters) - Norway's Equinor EQNR.OL has bought a ready-to-build 230 megawatt (MW) onshore wind complex in Brazil from Danish wind turbine maker Vestas VWS.CO, the Norwegian oil company said on Monday.
Equinor expanding in renewable energy, strengthening integrated power portfolio.
The 51 turbine Esquina do Vento complex is located in the state of Rio Grande to Norte on Brazil's eastern coast.
The project will be developed and operated by Equinor's subsidiary Rio Energy and will have a potential annual generation of about 1 terawatt hours (TWh).
Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of this year, according to Equinor, with commercial operations planned for 2028.
Vestas will have a 30-year service and energy-based availability agreement, Equinor said.
