SYDNEY, April 17 (Reuters) - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Friday that Viva Energy's VEA.AX Geelong refinery was continuing to produce 60% of petrol, and 80% of diesel and aviation fuel despite a fire at the facility.
"We hope as does the company that, that ramps up over the coming period," Albanese told reporters at the refinery after meeting company officials.
The fire that broke out on Wednesday night at Viva Energy's 120,000 barrel-per day refinery, the largest of Australia's two oil refineries, has hit petrol production amid the nation's efforts to shore up fuel supply amid the war on Iran.
