** Australian energy stocks .AXEJ dip as much as 2.2% to their lowest level since June 5

** Oil prices hit five-month low as U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to impose increased tariffs on China raised concerns about the demand outlook in a market seen as overpriced

** Oil and gas explorers Santos STO.AX and Woodside Energy WDS.AX slip 2.3% and 2.5%, respectively

** Coal miners Whitehaven Coal WHC.AX and New Hope Corporation NHC.AX drop between 1.5% and 2.5%

** AXEJ down 6.6%, YTD
