** Benchmark ASX 200 .AXJO down 0.8%
** Tech stocks' gain follows US peer Nasdaq Composite's .IXIC rise overnight, as investors returned to the chip sector and other AI-related stocks 
** Tech majors WiseTech Global WTC.AX and Xero XRO.AX rise above 1.5% each 
** YTD, .AXIJ down nearly 23% vs 0.7% rise in .AXJO
