WARSAW, Aug 20 - The following are news stories, press

DEFENCE
Only one application from Poland was submitted to the EU
program for co-financing of weapons purchases - regarding the
purchase of Piorun man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems,
Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
BANKS
The banking sector's profit amounted to 20.1 billion zlotys
($5.22 billion) in the first half of 2024; if this result is
maintained in the second half of the year, a profit of up to 40
billion might be expected for the full year, over 12 billion
zlotys more than in the record-breaking 2023, Rzeczpospolita
daily reported.
From the beginning of 2024 until the end of July, the
Borrowers' Support Fund signed contracts with only 2.3 thousand
people for 176 million zlotys compared to almost 4.5 thousand
contracts amounting to almost 300 million a year earlier,
Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily reported.
NEPTIS YAN.WA
Neptis - the owner of the Yanosik application popular among
drivers - plans to transfer the listing of its shares to the
main market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange by the end of this
year, Puls Biznesu daily reported.
