Keith's Story

How did you pick investments before you used Stockopedia?

I am now in my 70’s and have been an investor in equities for over 40 years. However, I have made the bulk of my small fortune on property, especially in London. At one time I owned 12 rental properties.

Since returning to the UK 20 years ago, I have used a professional financial advisor and he has achieved reasonable returns considering the difficult trading and economic times. He continued to manage part of my portfolio but in the last year I decided to withdraw a large sum and manage the money myself.

I became aware of Stockopedia from Facebook adverts and investment forums and became very interested in using you after doing my own research. Before that I tended to focus on large FTSE companies that I was familiar with such as HKSB, whose Chairman is a personal friend . Thank goodness I got rid of those shares within a month of joining Stockopedia!

Has using Stockopedia changed your approach to investing?

Although I do my own research I am guided by recommendations from Paul Scott, Jack Brumy, and occasionally also members of the discussion forum. My approach has changed completely as I now exclusively focus on small caps whereas it was always the large multi nationals before.

Has Stockopedia impacted your investment results or quality of life?

Although I have done really well since joining Stockopedia, I am very fortunate that my quality of life has not been affected as I am basically investing with capital I probably will never spend!
