Robert's Story

How did you pick investments before you used Stockopedia?

Before Stockopedia I used Company REFS, which was the best share analysis tool I could find at the time - but it was far from perfect.

Stockopedia provides a much more detailed analysis. I particularly like the ability to compare a share against the criteria for the Guru Screens. That way I can see if it meets the criteria set out by Jim Slater, Joel Greenblatt, and other successful investors.

Has using Stockopedia changed your approach to investing?

Since using Stockopedia, my approach to investing has become more research-based and disciplined. It's great to be alerted to a new share in magazines and other publications, but I will never buy anything unless I have thoroughly researched it on Stockopedia and it meets my investment criteria. This analysis level was not available before, so I now feel much more confident in my ability to pick outstanding shares.

Has Stockopedia impacted your investment results or quality of life?

Over the last 12 months, my portfolio of shares is up 67% - so good research pays off. I now have the information I need to make informed buy and sell decisions. I feel much more comfortable investing a more significant proportion of my capital into smaller growth shares, which I would otherwise consider too risky. I can now minimise my risk and my losses by thoroughly understanding my shares' intrinsic individual, with reasonably accurate expectations of investment returns across my portfolio.

In the past, I invested mainly in well-researched private equity because, for me, this offered the best risk/reward, even though it's illiquid and perceived to be a much higher risk than public traded shares. With Stockopedia, I can now find smaller listed companies on similar growth trajectories, often in niche markets. This is a game-changer. I can now get similar investment returns with greater liquidity and lower overall risk.

I cannot recommend Stockopedia highly enough to investors.
