UPDATE 1-BP has not considered breakup, says CEO adds BP denying media report at the time of publication, adds details about CEO comments
LONDON, Oct 30 (Reuters) - BP BP.L Chief Executive Meg O'Neill on Friday categorically denied that there have been conversations about breaking up the British energy group.
O'Neill's comments in a conference call on quarterly results were in response to a Semafor media report citing unnamed sources this week saying that some BP board members are in favour of a breakup of the company, which BP denied at the time.
O'Neill said discussions she has had with the board about the strategic direction of the group reaffirm the imperative of having an integrated oil and gas company, meaning both an upstream and a downstream business under one roof.
