FRANKFURT, April 16 (Reuters) - Japan's DMG Mori Seiki Co
Ltd 6141.T held about 52.5 percent of shares in German
engineering group DMG Mori Seiki AG GILG.DE after the
additional acceptance period for its offer for the group ended
on April 13, it said on Thursday.
The German and the Japanese companies have said they hope
the merger will cement the German company's position as global
market leader in machine-tool manufacturing.
But Japan's DMG had to increase its offer for the German
machine-tool manufacturer twice to persuade investors to sell
their stock. ID:nFWN0WB025
It said on Thursday that shareholders tendered about 11.9
percent of the German firm's shares under the offer. It had
already acquired shares in over-the-counter trades that it had
said would allow it to exceed the 40 percent capital threshold.
