** Mineral explorer says it raised A$40 million ($28.33 million) through placement

** Offer price of A$1.65 marks a 2.9% discount, as of co's last close

** Co says placement funds to be used to support co's flagship Costa Fuego gold-copper project in Chile

** Despite moves, stock up 16.6% YTD
