Ukraine's Kernel starts new big oilseed refinery, media report

KYIV, April 15 (Reuters) - Ukrainian agricultural group
Kernel has launched a new oilseed refinery with a projected
capacity of one million metric tons of seeds a year, Ukrainian
Latifundist media outlet said on Monday.
Latifundist quoted a senior Kernel official as saying the
refinery, which is located in western Ukraine, was already
operating at 50% capacity.
The plant will process sunflower, soy beans and rapeseed.
Ukraine used to be the world largest sunflower oil exporter
before the Russian invasion in 2022 but since then the country
reduced both production and exports of sunoil.
Analyst APK-Inform quoted the Ukrainian vegetable oil
association Ukroliyaprom as saying on Monday Ukraine's overall
oilseed output was likely to fall by around 3% this year to 21
million tons, mostly due to a smaller sunseed harvest.
