STOXX 600 EDGES UP, SANOFI AND JET2 WEIGH
European shares kicked off the session in the black, supported by gains across most sectors, partly offset by weakness in pharma .SXDP, travel .SXTP and defence stocks.
Moves, however, were contained following recent bond market jitters, with traders awaiting Friday's key U.S. jobs report to cement expectations that the Fed will begin cutting rates at its policy meeting this month.
Pharma was dragged lower by a weak trial result at Sanofi SASY.PA that drove shares in the French drugmaker down 9%. A warning from Jet2 JET2.L weighed on the broader travel sector.
Declines of over 2% in high-flying arms makers Saab SAABb.ST, Leonardo LDOF.MI and Kongsberg KOG.OL pushed the broader aerospace and defence index .SXPARO down 0.7%.
The region-wide STOXX 600 .STOXX was last up around 0.3%.
