       Oct 28 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers,
acquisitions and disposals were reported by 1330 GMT on Monday:

        ** AT&T  T.N  said it had struck a $1 billion multi-year
deal with Corning  GLW.N  to buy fiber, cable, and connectivity
solutions, as the U.S. telecom giant looks to expand its
high-speed internet services.

        ** U.S. drugmaker AbbVie  ABBV.N  said it would acquire
Aliada Therapeutics for $1.4 billion in cash, gaining access to
the therapy developer's Alzheimer's disease drug candidate.

    ** Korea Zinc  010130.KS  said it has secured 9.85% of the
company's shares in a $1.5 billion buyback that it launched to
block shareholders from selling their stakes to its top investor
Young Poong and private equity firm MBK.
