Video Transcript:

If explicit magazines offend you, then you aren't the only one. Two of Japan's
largest convenience stores have made the bald decision to stop selling adult
magazines as they try to clean up their image ahead of the 2020 Tokyo
Olympics. This 7-11 chain will uphold all crude material from their shelves by
the end of August and another major company, Lawson's are set to follow suit.
But it's prompted quite the mixed response from customers.

I do not feel good about the porn magazines in the stores but I think that
it's okay if men's desires are fulfilled by these things. I'm worried that
such desires may trigger crimes if the store stops selling porn magazines.

24-hour stores are popular in Japan. They stock everything you could possibly
need from coffee to work shirts and of course, the infamous adult mag, which
has often stood proudly at the front of the store. Around 20,000 7-11 stores
are set to be porn-free nationwide and a further 14,000 Lawson shops. Japan is
preparing for two years under a global sporting spotlight. The Rugby World Cup
will kick off in September and the Olympics are taking place next July
