** South Korean battery makers decline as U.S. tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico and China come into effect

** LG Energy Solution 373220.KS, with factories in Canada and China, falls as much as 5.4% to the lowest since February 10; set for biggest intraday pct dip since January 21

** Samsung SDI 006400.KS sheds 4%, battery materials maker LG Chem 051910.KS down 3% and POSCO Future M 003670.KS, which plans to run joint plant in Canada from 2026, eases 5%

** Canada and China have vowed countermeasures to U.S. tariffs

** KOSPI .KS11 slides 0.1%
