POLITICS
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni addresses the Senate (0800 GMT) and the Chamber of Deputies (1400 GMT) ahead of the EU summit on March 19-20. She is expected to speak about Middle East crisis and its effects on energy supply and prices

European leaders - including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni - on Tuesday agreed the European Council must take decisions on the pressing issue of energy prices and measures must be targeted, temporary, and well-coordinated, a German government spokesperson said.

COMPANIES
MONTE DEI PASCHI BMPS.MI, MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI
The boards of Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) Mediobanca on Tuesday approved the merger of the banks. They said shareholders of Mediobanca will receive 2.450 MPS shares for every share held.
MPS said it would propose at its next shareholders' meeting on April 15 the payment of a cash dividend of 0.86 euros per share.
(*) With still half of MPS' investors having to take a stance on the new board, CEO Luigi Lovaglio is looking to secure support from at least 20% of the bank's shareholders to confirm his at the helm of the bank, Italy's La Stampa reported on Wednesday.
Funds including BlackRock, Vanguard and Norway's Norges Bank Investment Management are ready to support a slate backing Lovaglio, the newspaper added, citing financial sources. Lovaglio could also count on a vote from Maltese fund Praude, Italian entrepreneur Giorgio Girondi and the Tortora family.

The carmaker announced on Wednesday the pricing of its offering of subordinated perpetual hybrid bonds, for up to 5 billion euros. The settlement of the offering is expected to occur on March 16, 2026

Matteo Del Fante will lead the state-owned conglomerate for a fourth term, two sources close to the matter said on Tuesday, as Italy prepares to announce a raft of top job appointments at leading state‑controlled firms.
LEONARDO LDOF.MI
The Italian defence and aerospace group said on Tuesday it had signed a new ESG-linked term loan worth 600 million euros with a five-year maturity with a pool of domestic and international banks.
MFE-MEDIAFOREUROPE MFEB.MI
The TV group controlled by Italy's Berlusconi family said on Tuesday it had acquired a 32.9% stake in Portuguese media company Impresa IMPA.LS through a capital increase priced at 0.21 euros per share.
