Italy - Factors to watch on Nov. 1

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Wednesday.

    ECONOMY
    Italy's economy stagnated in the third quarter from the
previous three months, preliminary data showed on Tuesday, a
weaker reading than expected following a 0.4% contraction in the
second quarter.
    More positively, Italian inflation slowed sharply in
October, with the country's EU-harmonised consumer price index
(HICP) rising 1.9% year-on-year, its lowest reading since July
2021.
    
    COMPANIES
    STELLANTIS  STLAM.MI  
    The automaker, presenting on Tuesday its third quarter
results, said it would seek to offset a significant financial
hit from strikes in North America that led to big pay increases,
including looking at potential cost cuts.
    
    MEDIOBANCA  MDBI.MI , BANCA IFIS  IF.MI  
    The bank has completed the sale of its bad loans acquisition
unit Revalea to Banca IFIS, the two banks said on Tuesday. The
100-million-euro ($105.70 million) deal was first announced in
May. 
        
    IREN  IREE.MI  
    The north-western Italian multi-utility said on Tuesday it
would start exclusive talks to buy smaller rival Egea. 
    
    ACEA  ACE.MI  
    The Rome-based utility said board member Thomas Devedjian,
appointed in April from the list presented by shareholder Suez
International, resigned on Tuesday due to other professional
commitments. 
    
    PIERREL  PRL.MI  
    Italian market regulator Consob has suspended the review of
the takeover bid for Pierrel presented by Fin Posillipo while
waiting for more information on the operation, Pierrel said on
Tuesday.
