Polish recruiter Grupa Pracuj's profit rises on Ukraine strength, growing client base

GDANSK, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Polish digital recruitment specialist Grupa Pracuj GPPP.WA on Thursday reported a 6% rise in third-quarter net profit to 64.7 million zlotys ($17.6 million), beating analysts' average forecast of 63 million zlotys in a Reuters poll.

The results were driven by a continued strong growth in its Ukraine business and a growing client base also in its more stable domestic market.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Grupa Pracuj operates the largest online job recruitment platforms in Poland and Ukraine. Its results provide insight into how companies are navigating hiring in these countries, highlighting the cooling job market in Poland and its strength in Ukraine, where staffing shortages are driving demand.

CONTEXT

Poland's recruitment market has seen a broader slowdown, as the number of job offers on 50 of the country's largest portals fell year-on-year in every month of the third quarter, according to research by Grant Thornton.

Grupa Pracuj said it had navigated the slump by growing the active employer base on its main Pracuj.pl portal.

BY THE NUMBERS

The recruiter's third-quarter revenue stood at 205 million zlotys, above the 201 million seen in the Reuters poll.

Revenue in its Polish segment rose 4.9% to 142.6 million zlotys, while its Ukrainian segment revenue jumped 22.3% to 16.7 million zlotys.
