    POLITICS
    Italy's cabinet on Monday passed a law decree that allows it
to continue supplying until the end of 2025 "means, materials
and equipment" to Ukraine to support its war effort against
Russia, a government statement said.
    
    Italy's government pledged on Monday to push ahead with a
contested plan to detain asylum seekers in centres built in
Albania and said it would work with allies on "innovative" ideas
to curb flows of irregular migrants into Europe.
    
    COMPANIES
    UNICREDIT  CRDI.MI , BANCO BPM  BAMI.MI 
    Italy wants the country's second largest bank to disclose
full terms of its proposed takeover of smaller rival Banco BPM
under "golden power" rules EU governments can use to screen
investments in strategic sectors, sources said. 
    
    INTESA SANPAOLO  ISP.MI  
    Cross-border mergers are the only way to growth for euro
zone banks, but at the moment there are obstacles "that make
them impossible or not affordable", Intesa Sanpaolo Chairman
Gian Maria Gros-Pietro said in an interview with Il Messaggero
daily published on Tuesday. 
    
    GENERALI  GASI.MI  
    The insurance group is studying potential acquisitions of
smaller peers in Germany, Spain and Greece to strengthen its
position in those markets, daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported on
Tuesday. 
    
    ENEL  ENEI.MI 
    The Italian utility said on Monday its Spanish unit Endesa
 ELE.MC  had completed the sale of a minority stake in the
subsidiary that owns its solar power assets in Spain for about
850 million euros ($885.19 million).
    
    LEONARDO  LDOF.MI 
    The Italian defence group said on Monday that Italy had
placed an order for up to 24 Typhoon Eurofighter jets.
    
    ITALGAS  IG.MI 
    Italy's government has decided not to exercise "golden
power" screening powers on Italgas' acquisition of smaller rival
2i Rete Gas, Il Sole 24 Ore daily reported on Tuesday, citing
sources at the prime minister's office. 
    
    
    ILLIMITY  ILTY.MI  
    The Italian digital bank on Tuesday announced the closing of
the deal with Apax Partners to create a new player in the
artificial intelligence sector. The deal will result in a net
capital gain of 52 million euro and a positive impact on the CET
1 ratio of about 90 basis points, the bank said.
