The shareholder take-up in Monte Dei Paschi's bid for Mediobanca reached 62.9% at the end of the second day of reopening on Wednesday, according to bourse data.
(*) Mediobanca's directors will meet later on Thursday for the first time since MPS obtained a controlling stake with its cash-and-share offer. Alberto Nagel, along with the rest of the board, is poised to step down as chief executive of the merchant bank, sources have told Reuters.
(*) MPS has picked consultancy Korn Ferry to assist in finding Mediobanca's new top management, daily Il Sole 24 reported on Thursday.

Italy's advertising spending decreased by 4.4% in July, research agency Nielsen said on Wednesday.
