Released: New blogs and chart functionality

This afternoon we’re pleased to inform you of two upgrades, as we continue the ongoing improvements to the discussion and analysis section of our site.

The first is the new blog structure, which some of you might have noticed as you browse our content. We hope this will make it easier for you to view the full spectrum of our analysis as well as helping you drill down into the specific topics that matter most to you.

And, following the positive feedback we have received on our recent upgrades to StockReport charts, we have added analysis widgets to our main charts. This means you will be able to add an overlay to see every time one of our analysts has covered a stock and click back to read the full article.

New blog structure

Following the feedback provided in our recent subscriber survey, you told us that there are three key area of content that matter most to you: analysis of companies in the news, ideas for new investment opportunities, and data driven insights that can help inform your strategy.

With this in mind, we’re pleased to reveal our new blog hierarchy, which groups all of our content into these themes:

Companies & Markets
Screens & Ideas
StockRanks Strategies & Insights

The final section is our Model Stockopedia Portfolios, including Ed’s NAPS Portfolio and Roland’s SIF. We hope to provide some more exciting upgrades to our model portfolios in the new year, all of which will be housed in their own stream in the Discuss channel.

Filtering to help you find the content you want

While the new structure will hopefully help all our users find and read the full breadth of our content, we know that many of you like to read specific blogs - the Daily Stock Market Report, for example.

You’ll be able to drill down to find the blogs that matter most to you by using our new filtering tool.

On each content stream page, you can use the toggles at the top of the page to see only the specific blogs that you want to. You can also bookmark each individual blog page if you want to make sure you don’t lose it.

Within each content stream, you’ll be able to read the following blogs:

Companies & Markets:

Daily Stock Market Report - our daily analysis of companies reporting news
The Week Ahead - every Friday we’ll be previewing interesting companies set to announce numbers next week
Markets Analysis - an overview of big stock market stories
International Stocks - analysis of companies from foreign stock markets

Screens & Ideas:

Screens - analysis of ideas and trends that have been delivered by our screens
Stock Pitch - in depth research into individual stocks

StockRank Strategies & Insights:

StockRank Strategies - research into our market-beating, factor-driven ranking system
Data Insights - independent research from the wider stock to help inform your strategy

NAPS - Ed’s systematic, no admin portfolio
Stock in Focus - Roland’s data-informed, discretionary portfolio

We’ve also added an additional sorting feature which will enable you to order the articles by most recent post, most recent comment or most popular.

Editorial insights on full-screen charts

Following the success of integrating editorial content into Stock Report charts - and the remarkable engagement it’s generated - we’re thrilled to announce an exciting expansion of this feature!

You can now access Stockopedia Editorial Events directly within the full-screen charts, giving you a seamless way to view our expert insights alongside your technical analysis.

To explore this:

Enter any full screen chart
Click on Events in the tool bar.
Select Stockopedia Editorial from the dropdown menu.
Save your preferred setup as a chart template for future use.

Thanks for the updates! Useful as always.

I notice I need an extra clicks to find some regular blogs, but this is fine. I'll bookmark what I use the most.

Out of interest, where do I find non-share blogs (i.e. the posts for "New releases" such as this post? Once I've clicked on the Today page top banner the link goes away, and I had to use browser history to find this post so I could comment).

Keep up the good work! I'm hoping the dev team turn their attention to the portfolio management tools again soon, for example it would be lovely to analyse changes in value / sector diversification etc across a group of portfolios rather than only one portfolio at a time. Also to be able to screen & have columns for both bid price and asking price (at the moment it just says "price" which seems to be bid price - this might be set by the folio valuation setting, but this is unclear). The list goes on! Good luck with future developments.

I like the chart option for ‘Stockopedia Editorial Events’, however, I presumed you could hyperlink it into the actual article to read up on it? (Which I can’t)

I’m using iPadOS 18.1.1 (22B91) iPad Air 11-inch (M2)

On mine, I go to the chart and click on the banner, which goes light blue presuming it’s a hyperlink , but nothing happens. I click above and below it, and I get the same non-response…

Megan, Since you no longer allow a Blog starter article to be edited- so unable to add more stock codes to link to the news tag on the Company page are you going to link to mentions of a stock using the @ feature ? As you know I start the monthly trust blog, readers mention other trusts than the one in the starter article- but can no longer add them

I'm on the previous Op. Trying to update to 18.1.1 now.

Hi Team, you need to get a bug fix to sort this out; otherwise, it’s a big, long-winded process to remember the date of the article and then search for it. Otherwise, when it’s works it’s a good idea.

It does work on the smaller chart, on the Stockreport, though.

Just checked that Rusty and you are correct, that when you are not in the chart itself, but on the stock report page, the hyperlink does transfer you to the article. However, it slightly defeats the purpose if you are trying to use the charts on a full-page layout.

Yes, still not working. You never know, Rusty. Someone from Stocko H/O might get back to us and acknowledge the issue… :)

Hi both, thank you for bringing this to our attention. The problem is likely with Safari (rather than your iOS operating system). Our developers are looking into it and will hopefully be able to role out a fix soon. But in the meantime the clickability should be working fine on a different browser on iPad.

Follow up: We've done some investigation and it turns out it is an iPad issue rather than one only affecting Safari. Our developers are on the case.

Just to add, it’s not working also on my iPhone XR. I made a mistake previously, to say it was working.

I recently asked if we could have user notes displayed when hovering over a stock in screen/folios etc (when the quick info box and graph shows up).

Today I found out that by pressing the settings screw icon on the share results list you can indeed view previously made notes. Didn't know that. So that's great to know.

Now if there could be something along the lines of a * alongside the share name to show there are additional user notes that'd be perfect.

Edit. Also it's been requested yesterday but could be have a sticked "User requests" type page. This would allow us to give ideas, allow users to then expand on the ideas etc.. Would also have allowed someone to point out to the like of me that the function may already been in place lol

I'm getting more issues with charts now. Some mini charts can't be displayed messages. When l click on mini charts to get full chart, it just takes me back to the Folio chart.

Charts have changed again, the issue on the iPad has been fixed, the link now works.

Loading is an issue with mini charts, thus site has suddenly got faster, it seems it is too fast to load all the minicharts on a folio, often l'm getting lots of error messages and charts are missing.

Also looking at share buying and selling, great new feature but l run many folios, 25, so some stocks are on multiple times. Would it be possible, to be able to select, which folios have the buying and selling, this would reflect my actual buys and sells, rather than just watchlist entries.
