Released - Share Stockopedia offline with upgraded print and PDF abilities

We've made progress on a few different fronts this past sprint. You can now print out or PDF all of your favourite Folios, Screens and other pages, allowing you to take Stockopedia offline and share with friends. It's one more popular request down and we're getting feedback all the time regarding areas to focus on next.

You might also notice some more work has been done to the recently added Major shareholders feature. More on these points below.

Take Stockopedia offline with new print and PDF capabilities

You can now can take Stockopedia offline and share it with friends by printing off your favourite pages or transforming them into PDFs. This is a popular request so we're happy to put the time into making the site more print-friendly. To print a page, head to the top right of your browser and select "Print" from the dropdown menu.

The gif below give you a feel for it but your best bet is to visit some of your favourite pages and print or save them as PDFs yourself. Head over and give it a go.

Refined ownership data

The community response to the addition of "Major shareholders" data has been fantastic so we revisited this new feature to tighten it up even more.

One of the biggest bits of feedback we received was that for various companies, total ownership added up to more than one hundred per cent. This was due to instances of double counting, with a single shareholding occasionally being counted at both the investment firm and sub-fund level.

Using Shoe Zone as an example, you can see that Miton Asset Management Ltd has a 11.95% holding, of which 9.17% is held by LF Miton UK Multi Cap. Previously this latter figure was double counted.

Now, we only count the parent holding but we show the sub-fund stake as well to provide an accurate major shareholders figure while maintaining that extra level of insight into shareholdings.

Searchable Learn section

Learn is now searchable - so it's easier than ever to find the answers to your questions.

If you ever want to know something about Stockopedia or its financial data, the Learn section should always be your first port of call. We refresh this section regularly to make sure it's up to date with all the latest deployments - if it's something useful about the site then you should be able to find it here.

Bug fixes & other improvements

We've been busy squashing bugs as well:

AIM companies were previously displayed as London Stock Exchange on their StockReports. This has been fixed to reflect their AIM listings.
The way Folios are valued has been improved: previously, if a price didn't come through in time your Folio valuation might show a "V" shape due to the missing data. This has been fixed.

What's next?

This sprint we are making data more easily transferable between Folios. You will be able to copy stocks and their transactions from one portfolio to another, allowing you to do things like divide your holdings into sub-portfolios (eg. by sector) to more easily split out performance.

@Armorduck - the term "sprint" is just a terminology from the development process we use "Scrum". A sprint is a 2 week work iteration that's used to deliver a working increment of software.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for explaining. I followed the links and know a little more now. I'm not sure I need to know too much about your development process works but I am very keen to see the development done. Improved graph axes will be great when they come. By playing I've learnt the axes are not necessary since if I hover the mouse over a data point the relevant numbers are indicated. But that is not the type of graph I first learnt to interpret many years ago. Also, it might not help if I made a pdf.

If you do adopt automatic dividend inclusion on portfolios (which I agree would be a good feature) , can I also suggest that you - apply it as "pending" on the Ex-Dividend date and then convert it to 'cash' on the payment date.

I know that some people will want to use this so they have an accurate measure of cash in their portfolio - which the latter measure would cover.

Also, however the former measure allows for a "true" portfolio value at any given point in time - the 'ex' date is important in that respect given that the share-price falls as any new buyers will not get the dividend. (Also most SpreadBet companies I believe apply dividends on the ex date.)

Not sure if it is me but how do I print my Folio from the iPad? I can’t actually see any buttons to do this?

I'm sure we can help with this - can you click onto the support button (green speech button at the bottom right of your desktop screen or, if you are using your ipad, click on your profile pic at the top right and then hit "Contact support").

From there we'll be able help.

Thanks Jack but I don’t appear to have these support buttons in either places. I do have the Firefox Focus adblocker App on but as Stockopedia doesn’t have trackers or ads there shouldn’t be anything to block?

You may have noticed that today's release includes more y-axis gridlines :-)

I think you have a problem with the Compare site ( Stock Report, Tools, Compare.) If you "compare" more than two stocks, you come up with a different "winner" when you input the stocks in a different order. I have reported this last week and was told you will sort it out.

Ad blockers do block our support button quite often actually - can you try disabling it for Stockopedia to see if that changes anything? Then through support we can get more details about your operating system etc.

Otherwise we have an iPad (13.1 operating system) - if your setup is the same, then you should be able to print Folio by clicking on the "Share" button (box with an arrow pointing upwards) in the browser, then the print option should be at the bottom of that dropdown menu.

This one is being discussed and we're currently working out where to schedule the work in.

just new to stock p, but I would like to see some more charting tools especially the EMA, SMA which can be adjusted. Also a back tool so it is easy to navigate to previous pages

Ahh yes and one disappointment was the lack or near non existent of funds

Is there any chance we can have more than 10 folios. I thought this was proposed a while ago but nothing has changed yet ?
