Content guidelines

To ensure high-quality contributions, all posts on Stockopedia’s platform must adhere to the following guidelines. Content that does not meet these standards may be moderated or removed.

1. Relevance and Focus

  • Articles must focus on topics valuable to our community, including:
    • Analysis of individual stocks
    • Stock strategies and portfolio management
    • Behavioural finance
    • Economic themes influencing the stock market
  • Content unrelated to investment or finance (e.g., politically motivated or general-interest articles) will not be published.

2. Originality and Attribution

  • Submissions must primarily consist of original writing.
  • Quotations can support arguments but should not dominate the article.
  • Over reliance on external sources may lead to moderation.

3. Balanced and Logical Argumentation

  • Articles must provide logically reasoned arguments, backed by evidence.
  • Personal opinions, rants, or unsubstantiated claims are not permitted.
  • A balanced perspective is essential: avoid excessive promotion or criticism of specific stocks, companies, or strategies.

4. Presentation and Professionalism

  • Submissions must be written in clear, grammatically correct prose.
  • Content requiring significant editing will not be accepted.
  • Bullet points are welcome for clarity but should not replace coherent narrative.
  • Articles must maintain a professional tone and style.

5. Technical Requirements

  • Graphics: Images should not exceed 650px in width and must be hosted externally with proper copyright permissions.
  • Length: Articles must be between 300 and 2500 words. Multi-part series are allowed, but each part must meet the word count.
  • External Links: Links to external websites, webinars, or other resources are discouraged and only allowed under exceptional circumstances, subject to review.

6. Ethical Standards

  • Disclosure of Interests: Authors should disclose any financial or personal interests related to the stocks or companies mentioned in their article. Sponsored content must include a clear disclosure.
  • Respect for Others: Articles must maintain a respectful tone toward other members and avoid inflammatory language or personal attacks. Healthy debates are encouraged but must remain professional.
  • Copyright and Plagiarism: All submissions must be original and respect third-party copyrights. Plagiarism will result in removal and potential suspension.

7. Author Accountability

  • Authors should have a photo or avatar on their profile.
  • Real names and contact details must be provided to Stockopedia’s admin team (confidentially maintained).

8. Moderation and Assistance

  • Stockopedia reserves the right to moderate posts based on these guidelines.
  • If unsure about compliance, authors are encouraged to seek clarification before submitting.
