General Capital Limited is a New Zealand-based financial services company. Its principal activities are financial services, and research and advisory services. The Company’s segments include Finance, Research and Advisory, and Corporate and Other. The Finance segment is engaged in deposit taking and short-term property mortgage lending. The Research and Advisory segment offers investment advisory services and produces and sells investment research and publications. The Corporate and Other segment engaged in corporate functions and investment activities. The Company’s subsidiaries are General Finance Limited (General Finance) and Investment Research Group Limited (IRG). General Finance is a non-bank deposit taker that accepts deposits from the public, and it lends funds to borrowers secured over residential property. IRG is a research house and a firm of investment bankers. IRG offers research on individual companies and has published about 46 editions of the IRG Yearbook.
