NextEra Energy, Inc. is an electric power and energy infrastructure company. The Company operates through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), and NextEra Energy Resources, LLC and NextEra Energy Transmission, LLC (collectively, NEER). Its segments include FPL, NEER and Gulf Power. Its FPL segment is a rate-regulated electric utility engaged primarily in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electric energy in Florida. Its FPL segment has approximately 28,450 megawatts (MW) of net generating capacity, approximately 77,000 circuit miles of transmission and distribution lines, and 696 substations. Its NEER segment owns, develops, constructs, manages and operates electric generation facilities in wholesale energy markets in the United States and Canada. NEER also provides energy and capacity requirements services, power and fuel marketing and trading activities, and operates rate-regulated transmission facilities and transmission lines.
