Coal India Limited is an India-based coal mining company. The Company, along with its subsidiaries, is primarily engaged in the mining and production of coal and also operates in Coal washeries. It operates in 85 mining areas and operates 295 operational mines, including 121 underground mines, 163 opencast mines and 11 mixed mines. It also runs workshops, hospitals and other related establishments. Its products and services include Coking Coal, Semi Coking Coal, Non-Coking Coal, Washed and Beneficiated Coal, Middlings, CIL Coke / LTC Coke, and others. Its consumers include power and steel sectors, cement, fertilizers, brick kilns, and others. It has approximately 21 training institutes and 68 vocational training centers. Its subsidiaries include Eastern Coalfields Limited, Bharat Coking Coal Limited, Central Coalfields Limited, Western Coalfields Limited, South Eastern Coalfields Limited, Northern Coalfields Limited, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, CIL Navikarniya Urja Limited and others.
